GAME “honoured and delighted” to receive first Business Oscar
12/11/2003
The passionate focus on excellent customer service at The GAME Group Plc was praised last night at the National Business Awards. The company was presented with the prestigious ‘Customer Focus Award’ in London during the ceremony and gala dinner.
GAME was among 120 other finalists, competing for 24 different awards at the event, dubbed the 2003 UK “Business Oscars”. The awards reward and recognise the importance of business excellence to the success of UK Plc.
GAME is Europe’s leading specialist retailer of computer games and PC software, with over 350 stores in most high street and shopping centre locations in the UK & Eire, and a further 110 in Continental Europe. In winning the Customer Focus Award, GAME demonstrated that the customer is at the heart of the business, and is open to change when customers so demand.
Tom Roche, Strategy & Business Development Director of Fujitsu Services, and one of the award judges commented “The Competition was very high in this sector, and as an organisation dedicated to providing excellent Customer Service ourselves, we were impressed with not only GAME's recognition that they needed to delight their customers at every touch point, but their outright determination to do so.”
Martin Long, Chief Executive Designate and Chief Financial Officer of GAME said “We’re honoured and delighted to have won this coveted award. It’s a fantastic tribute to the continuing hard work of all our staff to give every customer the best possible service.
“Our success has been driven by our ability to differentiate ourselves through excellent customer service, and we’re thrilled this has been recognised with a ‘Business Oscar’.
“Customer service has been the main focus of the company from the outset. We’re pleased that this has been recognised in such a high profile arena, and also hope that as a result of winning this award, the games industry will achieve a more authoritative profile as the mainstream entertainment industry, that it is today.
“Ultimately, we believe that our customers are at the heart of our organisation, and believe that this passionate conviction came through, and was recognised by the judging panel.”
GAME was also highly commended for the Business of the Year award at the ceremony.
