Lunson Mitchenall in Aggressive Store Acquisition for GAME

13/02/2004

Lunson Mitchenall is looking to acquire up to 40 new UK stores for video games retailer GAME this year, to facilitate its rapid expansion programme.

As sole agent, Lunson Mitchenall acquired 31 stores for the retailer in 2003. There are now more than 360 GAME stores in the UK & Eire with at least one in every major retail centre in the country. By value, one in four video games bought in the UK are from a GAME store.

Stephen Boyce, Property Director at GAME said, “The past year has seen the video games industry become truly mass market, with more consumers buying games than ever before. It is therefore essential for us to keep active in the property market - finding suitable and profitable new sites is a priority.”

He added “We’re been working with Lunson Mitchenall for the past 8 years, and look forward to continuing this relationship and achieving our objectives for 2004.”

Robert Wingrave, Lunson Mitchenall said, “The demographic of the GAME customer has changed to include more women and older games purchasers. As a result, in 2003 we have acquired stores in suburban locations, for example in Putney, Chiswick, Wandsworth and small market towns such as Buxton, Dewsbury and Grantham.”
